Aspirin & Lemon Juice Mask for Acne The

Aspirin & Lemon Juice Mask for Acne

The aspirin has salicylic acid in it which is great for skin. The lemon juice is a citric acid with antibacterial properties, which are great for healing acne and even-ing out skin tone. The honey is soothing and the baking soda is used as an exfoliator to help remove the mask, but it also has wonderful natural properties for the skin. Some women swear by baking soda. It’s gentle and leaves skin smooth and soft.

Ingredients:

3-6 aspirin
1 lemon
baking soda
Coffee cup, rolling pin or glass cup (to crush the aspirin)
Shallow dish
Warm honey (runny honey), moisturizer made for the face or natural oil such as almond, olive or coconut

Preparation:

Depending on the amount of coverage needed, use 3-6 aspirin.
Crush the aspirin into small pieces by rolling a coffee cup, rolling pin or glass cup over them. Place aspirin in a dish.
Squeeze in the fresh lemon juice (about 1 tablespoon per 3 aspirin) and allow the aspirin to dissolve into a paste. If the aspirin is coated, it may take longer.
If you have dry skin, add a tablespoon or so of warm honey, moisturizer or a bit of oil (almond, olive or coconut works). Stir well. If you have oily skin, you can skip this part and add a few more drops of lemon instead.
Apply as a mask or spot treat the pimple or itchy area. Allow to dry.
Remove the mask with a warm, wet washcloth dipped in baking soda. http://ow.ly/i/4GNkY

Carrot & Avocado Mask for Dry Skin This

Carrot & Avocado Mask for Dry Skin

This face mask is all about the antioxidants, which are great for anti-aging. Potasssium-rich carrots prevent skin dryness and also has anti-inflammatory properties, helping to revitalize and tone the skin. Avocados, honey and egg yolks are all moisturizing.

Ingredients:

1 carrot, peeled and de-stemmed
1/2 avocado
1 tablespoon honey
1/2 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil (any oil in your cabinet can work here including vegetable oil or my favorite — coconut oil)
1 teaspoon of lemon juice (you can nix this if you don’t have it on hand)
1 egg yolk

Preparation:

Steam or boil the carrot until it’s so tender a fork can pierce it easily.

Mash the carrot with a fork until it becomes a creamy consistency OR blend the carrot in a blender until it forms a pulp.

Mash the avocado in with the carrot pulp. Note: The avocado must be one of those wonderfully ripe, mushy avocados. If it’s not ripe, it will be hard to mash with a fork. I recommend putting a non-ripe avocado in the blender with the carrot to blend.

Add honey, lemon juice and egg yolk and mix together by hand.

Spread over a clean face and leave for 15 minutes.

You can mash up the other half of the avocado with lemon and sea salt and enjoy a nice little snack while you wait for the mask to do its thing.

Wash off mask with a warm washcloth and pat skin dry with a towel. Slather on moisturizer. http://ow.ly/i/4wlrE

A great facial mask can hydrate and soften dry skin. This one uses as its main ingredients super hydrating aloe vera gel, avocado and honey.

1/2 ripe avocado (you can eat the other half)
1 tbsp runny honey (heat it a few seconds in the microwave to make it runny)

Recipe:

Cut up the avocado into pieces, then mash it in a bowl with a fork, creating a smooth paste without lumps.

Add the aloe vera gel, runny honey, coconut oil and oatmeal and mix together.

To Use:

Apply the mask to freshly washed skin and allow it to sit for about 15 minutes.
